A 2014 data center GPU brought back into service for recent language models
Underused machines on my network, including a Tesla K80 abandoned by modern tooling. The goal: private AI, off the cloud, with hardware already on hand.
Components compiled below the usual tooling, four machines assigned by their strengths, every optimization measured before being kept.
Models of 27 to 35 billion parameters served locally, transcription 24 times faster than real time. A personal lab, documented in a case study.
